Family app for Android and iOS
Tellerrat
What’s for dinner? Tellerrat suggests three dishes from your own recipes – with what each person eats, how much, and how long you will spend in the kitchen.
The app is currently available in German only.
Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play
What Tellerrat does
- Three suggestions for the next meal – based on who is eating, how much time you have at the stove, what was cooked recently and what is in the pantry.
- Everyone eats their part: dishes consist of components. Tellerrat knows who takes which side and scales the amounts by each person’s portion factor.
- Allergies and dislikes: the 14 major allergens at three levels (“dislikes”, “intolerant”, “allergy”), plus individual ingredients someone dislikes or loves.
- Ratings and wishes: everyone gives stars and wishes for dishes, the others agree or not. The suggestions learn from this.
- Schedules: who eats lunch or dinner on which weekday, and who comes home later?
- Cooking with instructions: ingredients in the right amounts, steps and times – and a photo of the meal afterwards.
- Pantry and shopping list.
- 27 dishes to start with; add your own recipes with a wizard, as text or from a web page.
- Kid’s device: a device of its own shows a child only what is for dinner today and lets them rate and make wishes.
- Simple mode without people and ratings: just suggestions and recipes.
- Works without an account and without internet. Your family’s data stays on your devices.

Frequently asked questions
- How much does Tellerrat cost?
- As long as you use Tellerrat on a single device, everything is free. Once you pair further devices, you can try everything for 14 days. After that, ratings, wishes, syncing between devices (including kids’ devices) and the recipe catalogue require a subscription – one subscription for the whole household, monthly or yearly. Dishes, people, schedules, cooking, pantry, shopping list and backup always stay free. Nothing is deleted when the subscription ends.
- How do I connect my family’s devices?
- On a device that already uses Tellerrat, open “Personen” → “Haushalt und Geräte” and tap “Gerät hinzufügen” (add device). On first start, the new device chooses “Familie beitreten” (join family) and scans the code shown. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi. A code is valid for 15 minutes; a household can have up to six devices. Syncing is encrypted and happens directly between the devices on your Wi-Fi, not over the internet. After pairing, both devices show the same six-digit comparison number – if it matches, the connection is genuine.
- Can I rely on the allergen information?
- Tellerrat takes into account the allergens stored with the ingredients. For your own, imported or edited recipes this information comes from you, and products in shops may differ. If allergies are involved, always check the ingredients yourself. Tellerrat does not give any nutrition or health advice.
- I have a new phone – how do I take my data with me?
- The easiest way is to pair the new device with another device of your household. Without a second device: save a file via “Haushalt und Geräte” → “Sicherung erstellen” (create backup) and load it on the new device with “Sicherung einlesen” (load backup). Loading replaces the existing data on that device. The backup file is not encrypted and also contains names and allergies – keep it safe. Photos are not included.
- How do I cancel the subscription, or restore it on a new device?
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account. On a new device, tap “Käufe wiederherstellen” on the purchase screen – signed in with the same Apple or Google account you bought it with.
- How do I delete my data?
- All data is stored only on your devices. Uninstalling the app removes it completely from that device; if several devices are paired, uninstall the app on all of them. If you remove a single device from the household under “Haushalt und Geräte”, both sides keep their existing data. We ourselves do not store any data about your family.
